Comicsreporter Interview
I've been waiting for this guy to interview me for two years. Finally, my day in the sun has arrived! Check it out here.
Buttons!
I've been doing buttons since my agent got a lean, mean button making machine. They are available wherever I attend conventions. Several series are under development, including a modern worker series loosely (ever so loosely) based on Mayan hieroglyphics. Plus various Rex buttons, of course, including an official Ordo Bibliotheca membership button!
Revolutionary Trading Cards
Because Trotsky and Lenin didn't flip hockey cards. A must for every arm chair revolutionary. Collect all 28 and complete your deck. Also available in button, poster, and t-shirt form. Be the envy of Mao!
Major Website Update
Plans for a major update are in the works. Wheels are in motion, as they say. Laundry is being washed, taxes are being paid, television is being watched. In other words, this particular project is currently in what is known in the movie business as 'Development Hell'. Might add a semi-annual blog. Don't think my life supplies enough for a daily one.
Rex Libris Issue 10
Issue 10 will be hitting the stands in late January. It's my ode to digression. Never mind issue 9, it's come and gone.
Valenciennes Comic Book Convention
The convention was awesome. The hosts made a 9 foot tall wood cut out of Rex. Very cool. Franck Blas (centre) and David Samsa (front) organized the event. Their blog (from which the above photo was lifted) can be found here.
Rex Simpsons Style
Exactly as Rex has never appeared on the fabulous television show! Impossible? Believe it! This screenshot shows Rex and creator James arguing with the evil floating head Xurgh, guardian of the Xixuloob temple of Xungh, just outside Durham, Ontario. It's behind the Tim Hortons.

Conventions
I will be appearing at TCAF (the Toronto Comic Arts Festival) August 18-19th. I'll be at the Victoria College location on Charles. Should be lots of fun. I'll have comics, graphic novels, and perhaps even buttons. Come on out and hob nob with the comic book glitterati.
In November, I will be at the Comics and Pop Culture Convention (November 17-18th) in Valenciennes, France.
Rex Libris Trade Now Available!
The Rex Libris trade, which gathers up the first five issues of Rex, is now in stores. It has a slew of wonderful extras, including a short story pitting Rex against the Red Baron!

Escape From the Book of Monsters
Issue 8, the all-action-all-the-time extravaganza, hits the store shelves on May 9th. That's just days away! See Rex kick undead butt! See Hypatia take down gibbering demons! See Circe take on a Xixuloob abomination! From gigantic lumbering lizards to Nosferatu, this issue has it all!
It also bears mentioning that the back cover is the first public presentation of the new and revolutionary Juamco Imperial Penguin Transport. Designed to alleviate the hardships faced by Penguins in the Antarctic during their long marches, it has been under development for two years. At 562 feet high and 382 feet long and approximately 765 tons, it can carry 500 penguins in complete comfort. A prototype is to be delivered to Antarctica for tests sometime after 2012.
The author is slowly assembling it in his backyard.

'Casanova Was a Librarian'
Everyone knows that. But did you know there are librarian space marines? You'll learn that and more if you pick up Kathleen Low's new book 'Casanova Was a Librarian'. It's a one stop shop for all sorts of library factoids and interesting trivia tidbits.

'Rex Libris Optioned by Warner Brothers
"Warner Bros. Pictures has hired Mark Burton to pen the bigscreen adaptation of James Turner's comicbook "Rex Libris," about an everyday guy who becomes part of a secret sect of librarians who battle forces of darkness in chasing down overdue or stolen books. Mosaic Media is producing the comedic action-adventure. Comicbook is published by Slave Labor Graphics."
Very exciting news. Some very good people are involved. Hopefully it will go all the way to the big screen.

Rex Issue 7: Now with lense flares!
Yes! Incredible but true: the high tech bling of the mainstream has bled over into the alternative with Rex Libris issue 7. Not only that, issue 7 provides some of the most eccentric extras of the entire series, including the flip side of the map from issue 3. Or is it 4? I can't remember. But wait, there's more! There's a sneak peak at one of Hermeneutic Press's newest creations that has to be seen to be believed! Discover the future! Yada yada yada…
Well, that about does it for hyperbole...The issue is out on shelves now. Give it a try. I'm hopin' it goes over well…the story arc concludes next issue.
